Happy New Year 2021!
This is my New Year's resolution. Joyful, fulfilled, satisfied with what I'm doing.
I am of service. In my work, I watch the transformations in myself and the people I work with. This is so precious, this is what 2021 is about.
A friend recently said that in order for her to be happy, she wants to know that her work and her life are beneficial. She wants to cultivate relationships that are meaningful, because (I imagine) that's what feels uplifting and gives her energy and purpose. I second that.
One of the meanings of Samadhi is being in good company. 'Good company' are people who uplift you, literally - when they leave, you have more energy, more joy, more clarity. I couldn't think of a better way to spend my time than that. I will spend my energy and focus on being uplifting, compassionate, positive.
This doesn't mean pretending that there are no hardships in life. But just because something is hard you don't need to wish it away. As a matter of fact, that makes it even harder. Accept what comes your way, be present with it, learn from it. These are the ways of personal growth. If you want to feel happy and joyful in 2021, commit to the practice of seeing the good and the benefits in any situation.
Your heaven and your hell in 2021
My daughter Maya asked me this little riddle the other day: What is the difference between heaven and hell?
Answer: In hell, everyone sits down to a delicious banquet, but the spoons to eat with are 3 feet long. Surrounded by the most enticing foods you won't be able to feed yourself. That is hell.
In heaven, the situation is much the same. There's just one crucial difference: the people feed each other.
So simple and profound.
It reflects one of my favorite Byron Katie quotes:
'Arguing with what is creates a living hell in paradise.'
The key to having your career be a source of deep satisfaction and inspiration in your life is learning to be present with what is, accepting it as it is - and if you're an advanced practitioner of presence, loving it in every moment. That way, you are really at ease with your role as a caregiver and leader in your team and in your community.
If you are in tune with your practice, in tune with your patients' needs, it becomes very rewarding to just be present and be there to meet those needs. If you want your work to be a driving force for joy in life instead of a drain on your energy sign up for a facilitation package this month. That way, you commit to living your best life and taking full responsibility for a joyful 2021. I'm looking forward to working with you!

Abiding in the heart is a supported journey into the essence of your being, facilitated by BJ Harden Jones, a friend and fellow facilitator of The Work. I'm wondering what else to say about it, but can you put it any more invitingly?
"Discover for yourself that you are love, that kindness is at the heart of your being, and at the heart of the universe."
Just imagine living out of that knowledge!
Running February 2021 to January 2022, Abiding in the Heart is an opportunity for participants to make consistent contact with a loving presence within. A supported journey into the essence of your being. The material and engagement are available for participants to set much of their own rhythm, while it also invites collaboration and affinity with fellow participants. It's a beautiful balance between autonomy and a collective journey.
